Early 20th Century French Rococo Palace Size Clock Set
Description
This impressive example of an early 20th century French rococo palace size clock set originates from the prestigious E. Colin & Cie Paris foundry. The sculpted ensemble is detailed with crisp elaborate scrolling accented by a full figure cupid with quiver atop the clock. The clock & candelabra are decorated in a brilliant gold dore’ finish. The clock was commissioned by Tiffany & Co. & was featured in the 1900 Paris Exposition. The clock has Roman numerals & has “Tiffany & Co.” on a stunning white enamel face surrounded by floral scrolls. Beneath is the face of Bacchus, framed by a pair of mythical fish. Complimenting this key wind clock with bell chime movement, is a pair of flamboyant multiarmed candelabrum. Each piece of the set bears the circular impressed seal of the world renown foundry “E. Colin & Cie, Paris”. Further examination also reveals the stamp of the 1900 Paris Exposition.
