French Mantel Clock

An extraordinary French style gilt bronze and glass mantel clock, circa late 19th century. It features a tiered hand painted Paris porcelain dial. The recessed portion displays a basket of pink roses and is marked “Ball Black & Co.” Paris – New York. This porcelain insert is framed by a hand decorated dial with Roman numerals and flower garlands. The dial is encased behind beveled glass doors which are supported by a sturdy oval gilt bronze case and highly decorated champleve’ enamel columns and accents. Additionally, the pendulum and the dial frame are enhanced with hand set stones (old paste).
