French Boulle Mantle Clock,19C

An ornate French boulle mantle clock with extraordinary presence from the late 19th century. This vintage bracket clock is enhanced by highly decorative sculpted gilt ormolu mounts of stylized winged serpents and classical figures that adorn this oversize timepiece. A boldly framed enameled face with Roman numerals is surrounded by a unique elaborate design. The boulle has a decorative flowing flower and vine design throughout. The reverse of the clock reveals a wooden door,, the inside panel of which is very ornate. Accessible only through the back, one finds a hidden shelf that may hold the original clock key or another small treasure., The clock has a key wind movement with chimes and is presently in working order., The original key accompanies this wonderful clock!
