Vintage mid 19th Century French Empire Clock

Description

This vintage, circa 1855, French Empire mantel clock is designed with a gold dore’ bronze mythological subject upon a footed white & gilt bronze platform. The mounted bronze sculpture is that of Aurora, the goddess of dawn, racing against time to disperse the mists of night. She is posed in a decorative gilt bronze chariot pulled by two muscular stallions. The chariot wheel is accented by a white enamel clock dial with Arabic numerals. The clock has been serviced & cleaned professionally & is in excellent running condition. It has a French bell & is key wind. The hallmark is behind the bell.
